All the Details

Mainstay Christian Academy seeks to provide rigorous Bible-based academic Kindergarten through 5th grade instruction (with the intention of expanding to grade 6 in 2024-2025) delivered by certified and highly-qualified Christian educators every Tuesday and Thursday. Mainstay students meet in person from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm. The 5th grade day will be extended until 1:00 to accommodate a heavier curriculum load. Full school chapel will begin each day with Bible instruction, verse memorization, worship, and prayer. Students will then be in classes with grade level peers for reading, math, science, social studies, and writing instruction. Educators will utilize both large group and small group instruction to cover materials.

Looking for a longer day? There will be a Pack and Stay option for all families to extend any K-4th grade child's day until 1:00 at a minimal cost. Students will pack their lunch and have extended time with peers in structured and unstructured activities. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in two twelve week sessions of electives from 1:00 - 2:00. Students may take up to two electives per session at an additional fee.

While students will be registered as homeschoolers with their respective school districts, Mainstay Christian differs from the traditional co-op. We seek to be a comprehensive academic service for homeschool families. Mainstay provides a high level Christian curriculum that is taught in classes by certified teachers and meets all state homeschool requirements. Classes will provide opportunities for whole school chapel,  STEAM learning, collaborative projects with peers, personalized instruction in guided groups, assemblies, field trips, and service projects.

On the three Home Learning Days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) students will be expected to work closely with a committed Home Learning Coach (i.e. parent/guardian) and complete all given assignments by the staff at Mainstay. At-home work is mapped out and delivered to families in an easy to follow format with Weekly Work Checklists of home jobs to be completed. All at-home work supports the skills that are being taught in the classroom.  Parents will be responsible for home instruction that includes modeling, reteaching, and ensuring the mastery of new skills.

As part of the program, parents can opt for Mainstay teachers to complete homeschool evaluations at the end of the year.
